UNIQUELY SOCIAL

Snickel Lane is all about good company. A place to share an eating and drinking experience with friends, whatever the occasion.

Come in, grab a table in the shared space and choose quality food and drink from any of the restaurants, cafes and bars around you.

Whether it’s lunch, an after-work drink, a pre-show 'dine and dash' or a big night of fine dining and cocktails, it’s all available here.

Come again, same friends or with new ones, either way it will be a unique experience every time.

DISCOVERING LANEWAYS

Inspired by the laneways of Melbourne and the Snickelways of York, we are all about discovery. Discover new places, new tastes and new friends.

Feeding off the inner city feel of Imperial and Fort Lanes, Snickel Lane sees Auckland’s coolest laneway precinct grow another arm.

Discover it for yourself.

DESIGN INSPIRATION

The original structure was developed as part of a 16-tower office block in 1989.

Our design inspiration was to embrace the existing and combine it with the vintage grittiness that characterises the surrounding area.

Recycled materials, like old butchers tiles, make up most of the fit-out. Many were hand-picked from local demolition yards and loving restored. The cobblestone flooring adds to the grunge feel which is further emphasised by the exposed recycled barn timber ceiling.

ART CELEBRATION

The Fort Lane entrance signage draws inspiration from the neon urban art installation titled ‘Eyelight Lane’ by Swedish Artist David Svensson.

Made up of 120 metres of luminous neon lights criss-crossing the building facades, the installation reflects the renewed energy of Fort Lane since it was reborn as a shared space.

And the art continues inside with students from the ELAM School of Fine Arts competing annually for a scholarship to have their work adorning the Commerce St end of the lane.
